Waffles come in many shapes and sizes. Large, small. Savory, sweet. With syrup, with butter. We don’t discriminate. We love all waffles equally. We present you with these weeks #WaffleCrushWednesday: Waffle Fry Wednesday.

Crif Dogs, located in the depths of St. Mark’s Place and open until 4am, is the prime spot for late-night grub and quick caloric pleasures. This hole-in-the-wall offers up deep-fried hot dogs and cheap beers. And the hot dog combinations are as mouth watering as they are non-traditional. Think toppings like bacon, avocado and fried egg. We recommend the Jon-Jon Deragon, which is deep-fried, schmeared with cream cheese and coated in everything bagel spice. Your hot dog can be enjoyed over a game of Ms. Pacman because Crif Dog’s walls are lined with a plethora of vintage arcade games.

Despite its name, we didn’t come to Crif Dogs for the hot dogs. We’re here for the waffles. And by waffles, we mean waffle fries. We ordered up a Corn Dog and an order of Waffle Fries — size large. The fries, which arrived within minutes, were incased in a perfect aluminum foil pouch, preserving the crunch factor and keeping them toasty warm. They were relatively plain, but beyond delicious. If you are looking to ante up, add melty cheese to your waffle fries for just $0.50 extra.

Our Very, Very Unofficial Waffle Rating: 8.5
