Breaking Cereal Story: Froot Loops Are All The Same Flavor

If you went your whole childhood thinking each O in your bowl of Froot Loops was a different fruity flavor — prepare to have your world shattered. Each colored cereal morsel is actually the exact same blend of fruit flavors. That’s right: purple isn’t grape and yellow isn’t lemon. They’re all the same!

Q&A site The Straight Dope (via Reddit) reported that just as that blue tropical bird mascot hasn’t changed since the cereal’s creation in 1962, neither has Froot Loops’ flavor — that’s flavor, singular.

Food Beast didn’t want to believe it, and set out to prove all loops are created equally through a blind taste test. They reported: “each loop does in fact taste like mildly sweetened cardboard, with negligible or no differences between them.”

Froot Loops isn’t the only cereal that played tricks on our taste buds. Blind taste tests of Trix and Fruity Pebbles yielded similar results.
